Application in Artificial Marble and Agate Products
The larger use of hollow glass beads is artificial marble. In the United States, many manufacturers are using this filler. It has the following advantages: 1. Improving the impact performance of products manufactured with the correct formulation, the performance of products is higher than that required by the Artificial Marble Association. (2) Improve the texture layout and color continuity to make the product more beautiful and dazzling. (3) Reduce the curing time, and have a faster mold speed. (4) Improving impact strength, improving crack resistance and reducing product breakage rate. (5) Improve machinability and reduce the time to remove flying edges, cut, drill holes and grind. Reduce the wear of post-treatment tools. _Improve the shading performance of light colors, while reducing the amount of titanium dioxide (although sometimes need to be mixed with some deeper colors)Light weight, making it easier to handle and install, and also reducing transportation costs. The advantages listed above (3-_) can significantly reduce costs. Table 1 shows that the viscosity of the resin used in the standard formulation of artificial marble and the formulation containing hollow glass beads is 600-2000 cP. The use of hollow glass beads will not increase the viscosity of the mixing system. In this formula, hollow glass microspheres with a weight of 3.8% can reach 26.8% in volume, which will reduce their final weight by 30%. Because the viscosity of the resin, the ambient temperature at that time and the size of calcium carbonate are the main factors affecting the viscosity of the mixture system, these factors should be optimized to make the texture smoother and eliminate the bubbles more easily, especially when the temperature of the resin is less than 21 C.
